The Re:humanism 4 program is enriched with a special event on July 10, 2025: the presentation of the book AI & Conflicts Vol. 02, edited by Daniela Cotimbo, Francesco D’Abbraccio, and Andrea Facchetti, and published by Krisis Publishing.
AI & Conflicts 02 explores the so-called “summer of AI,” analyzing the tensions between the technological utopia promoted by big tech and the political, ethical, and aesthetic frictions that emerge from it.
On the one hand, AI acts as an extractive engine, shaping labor, creativity, and knowledge according to proprietary and opaque logics. On the other hand, artists and theorists respond with strategies of resistance and re-signification, exploring the possibilities of a situated artificial intelligence capable of challenging dominant models.
Through interdisciplinary perspectives, the volume traces a path through colonial datasets, gender biases, and the appropriation of visual culture, questioning the very meaning of authorship and creativity in the era of machine learning. AI is not a neutral oracle: it is a battlefield where imaginaries, epistemic categories, and political decisions intersect. This book attempts to observe AI from within, offering new critical tools to navigate it.
AI & Conflicts 02 is a research project co-financed by the Directorate-General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes and by the Re:humanism program.
The book presentation will be followed by the audiovisual performance DATALAKE:CONTINGENCY by Franz Rosati, winner of the APA Prize, who investigates the aesthetics of complexity, data flows, and algorithmic environments through immersive sound and generative visuals.
Franz Rosati is a musician, digital artist, and lecturer with an international career that has led him to present his works and performances at festivals such as Romaeuropa, Les Bains Numeriques, ADAF, Sònar CCCB, and in exhibition spaces such as NIIO, Framed*, ARTPOINT. His research combines art, technology, and sound design, engaging with the contemporary languages of electronic music and generative art.
