Me vs. You

Me vs. You is a multichannel video installation that explores the complexities of queer intimacy through the critical appropriation of an artificial vision system.

The work processes wrestling footage through an AI network based on depth mapping, originally designed to separate bodies, and reconstructs it using a video diffusion process. Yet, instead of rendering distinct figures, the system produces unstable, shifting forms that merge and collide in a sensual choreography, disrupting any clear reading of the interaction. The piece exposes the perceptual limits of artificial intelligence in recognizing entangled bodies, challenging computational paradigms of classification and control. It reimagines machine vision as a tool for poetic ambiguity rather than precision. Positioned between experimental cinema and surveillance technology, Me vs. You proposes a shift in how emerging technologies can resist normative regimes of automated perception, suggesting more fluid and expansive ways of seeing.

Adam Cole delves into the complexities of intimacy and identity in the age of AI, crafting immersive works that explore desire in the shadow of artificial representation. He integrates advanced AI-technologies, film, and installation to challenge the normative fantasies embedded in AI networks, seeking more diverse, poetic, and sensual alternatives. Cole’s work has been exhibited worldwide at prominent galleries and film festivals, including Tate Britain, the SXSW Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest, Sonar+D Barcelona, Le Lieu Unique, and SIGGRAPH Arts.

Gregor Petrikovič is a Slovak-British artist working with film and movement. His work explores human connection and alienation in the era of digital disconnect, often drawing inspiration from his background in philosophy, photography, and movement. His films have been exhibited internationally, including IDFA, Sónar Barcelona, Tate Britain, Athens Digital Arts Festival, and The Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts.
